Welcome to South Africa! This is the moment when your safari gets underway, and after a few brief formalities, you'll head out to start a journey where you'll be looking for animals and enjoying that amazing South African safari experience.

Greater Kruger is one of Africa’s great safari destinations. No matter whether you’re a first-time visitor seeking a quick Big Five fix, a repeat safari-goer hoping for quality time with African wild dogs or cheetahs, or a dedicated birdwatcher wanting to tick off some of the 500-plus bird species. This vast protected area is centered on the 19,485km² Kruger National Park, but it also incorporates 3,500km² of private and community-owned reserves, and wildlife can cross freely between their unfenced borders.

Day 3

Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park is known as one of Africa's finest safari destinations for good reason. This vast park is possibly the last place on earth to support populations of all Africa’s Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – that can be counted in the thousands. And yet there's so much more to Kruger than the Big Five. Giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and a host of other ungulates roam the park's plains, which also support South Africa's most colourful and varied birdlife.

Day 4

Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve

The scenic centerpiece of Mpumalanga’s Panorama Route is the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. It protects a 26km-long, 800m-deep gorge carved by the Blyde River and hemmed in by spectacular rock formations such as the Pinnacle and Three Rondawels. Studded with majestic viewpoints and traversed by walking trails suited to all levels of fitness, the canyon's forested cliffs harbor a variety of forest wildlife including samango monkey, bushbuck and Knysna turaco.

Day 5

Nyani Cultural Village

Follow the pathways of the Limpopo tribes and discover their origins, their lifestyles and their journeys to the present day. Take a tour of this traditional Shangaan Village while learning about the history, family duties and customs of the their culture.

Followed by the “Roots of Rhythm” show, a vibrant performance of song and dance, and a traditional African tribal lunch, you’re sure to leave with a deep understanding and respect for the African people.

Day 6

Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre

The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre focuses on the conservation of rare, vulnerable or endangered animals and is a must on any visitor’s itinerary. Moving between the various enclosures in open safari vehicles, guests can view cheetah, wild dog, lions, African wild cats, ground hornbills, Sable antelope and much more in an up close and personal manner. Visitors can also see rare African vultures feeding on carcass remains at the “Vulture Restaurant”.

Visitors may enjoy a selection of home baked cakes and a light meal under thatched cover overlooking the Centre’s enclosures. Refreshments such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, wine and beer are but some of the offerings available to a thirsty palate.

The curio shop’s colorful shelves are stocked to the brim with locally made artifacts, wildlife literature and children’s toys, perfect as gifts and mementos.
