Day 1

Namib Desert

It's time to get your Namibian safari underway. There are just a few formalities before you get started, and we'll have you out on the road and exploring in no time. The wildlife and landscapes that lie just over the horizon mean you have so much to look forward to and it all starts here.

Explore the beautiful Namib Desert, and get to know its many personalities. The Namib's dunes reach from deep in Namibia's interior down to the beaches of the Atlantic, and there are austere, barren mountains with canyons and walking trails. There's also some surprising wildlife here if you know where to look.

Sossusvlei

The sand dunes of Sossusvlei are one of the greatest natural wonders of southern Africa, and you'll get to see it all. Access to this remarkable place is along a long sand valley lined with dunes of seemingly impossible size and beauty. Climb one for incredible views, and then enjoy the warm and softening colors of the sand near sunrise and sunset.

Damaraland

Damaraland is sure to be one of your favorite areas in Namibia. There's so much for you to enjoy, from the stirring scenery of barren mountains and fertile river valleys to wildlife that could include desert lions, elephants, rhinos, giraffes and more. Damaraland is also home to several beautiful examples of ancient rock art.

Day 4

Twyfelfontein

You'll be visiting Unesco-listed Twyfelfontein, one of the most extensive and interesting rock art galleries anywhere in southern Africa. At the end of the long, grassy Aba Huab Valley, you'll find more than 2500 petroglyphs or rock engravings, and they tell a story of wildlife that long ago disappeared from the area. It's a fascinating window into the ancient past.

Kaokoland

There's beauty and wilderness seemingly at every turn when you explore Kaokoland. You might see some animals while you're here, with the greatest prizes being the desert-adapted lions, elephants and rhinos that live in this vast region of northwestern Namibia. Beautiful rock formations, sand dunes and river valleys are further highlights. But you'll especially love the opportunity to spend time with the Himba people here in their homeland.

Opuwo

In Namibia's deep north, Opuwo is a dusty provincial town. It's also where travelers arrange visits to Himba communities and is considered the largest town in Himbaland.

Day 7

Etosha National Park

You're going to love Etosha National Park, which is one of the best places to see wildlife in all of southern Africa. Watch for lions hunting by the waterholes, and you can't miss the elephants cloaked in white Etosha dust. Rhinos draw near to the waterholes by the camps after dark, and leopards are also possible here. And don't forget the scenery: the vast and mesmerizing salt pans that are such a feature of the park are simply stunning.

Zambezi Region

Just across the border from Botswana's Okavango Delta, Namibia's Zambezi Region (which used to be known as the Caprivi Strip) has a number of national parks with growing populations of wildlife. You'll love the birding here with so many species to see in the watery channels. The safari trails are wonderfully quiet: not many travelers come to this area.

Where Botswana meets Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia, Kasane is one of Botswana's most important safari gateway towns. It's close to so much wonderful wildlife country, including the nearby Chobe Riverfront, and the river runs right past the town, offering many pretty views for you to enjoy. It's a friendly, relaxed place.

Victoria Falls

It can be hard to look away from mighty Victoria Falls, one of the most impressive sights anywhere in Africa. The wall of water, known here as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the ‘smoke that thunders’), is a stunning, mesmerizing view.

Imagine being out in the soft, early morning light, wrapped in a blanket, just as the animals emerge from their night’s rest or from the shadows of their nighttime adventures.
